HyMark Field Day

T-22
The first thing I want to tell you about is the T-22 Root Shield. We have several plots out and wherever we used it, the corn lived through the water, the potatoes are much bigger, the soybeans are greener, and our wheat lot yielded 8 bushels more.

T-22 is made by a company called BioWorks, Inc. in New York. It is a fungus man has known about for years called trichoderma. This fungi lives off of the dying cells on roots of plants and competes for a place to live so well that we see the kind of results I just told you about.

I want all of you to try it next year and duplicate my results and see if I am wrong. I don't think I will be and it will only cost you 28 dollars to find out. 28 dollars buys one pound that will treat six units of seed corn. Some of you get 18 acres out of 3 units and some of you get 15. Either way, I think it is a very good investment. I think you will be happy with the results and using lots of it in 2,000.

USDA Strain
The USDA strain of soybean inoculant is one of the greatest achievements in legumes. Thanks to many of you, over 20% of Ohio's acres were inoculated with this strain this year and the results are clear. It fixes more nitrogen and the soybeans are healthier, make more yield, and leave more N for the next crop. I think we will see a 3 bushel advantage in this area again this year and 2 bushels statewide. Where else can you get 10 or 15 dollars for one spent??? Not too many places these days.

It is a pain for some of you to inoculate because good planting days are so few the past few years. I have told many of you it would pay you to hire a student to inoculate your seed. I have trained many people how to do this and what to look for. Because of this, many of you have come up with a quick way to get the Frozen-Prep formulation on(Wolfer inoculator). The great advantage is a little moisture, 5 times the bacteria count per seed and surer inoculation.

Urbana Laboratories have listened to us and are making 1000 Liqui-Prep containers for testing just in Ohio because of the work we have done. Just squirt it on the seed and plant. Any of your fields with less than 6 pH spots or so you will get extra yield benefit. I do not think you can find many fields in Ohio with areas that have less than 6 pH.

Urbana Labs had inoculants for every legume and we have alfalfa planted locally with the new PC-2 inoculant which is also increasing alfalfa yields and protein by 6%. We have fresh market green beans inoculated with Urbana inoculant also.

HyMark has been accepted into the Brookside Laborities, Inc family, the most recognized ag lab in the world. We can do any testing you need done on an as-needed basis. We made a sizeable investment to get accepted and accredited through Brookside. We will use any lab you request but we feel most comfortable with Brookside or A&L Labs.

HyMark scouts more corn, soybeans and wheat than any other company in Ohio. Much of the soybean and wheat seed you plant is scouted and certified by us.

WE will contract with you to scout your fields, make any recommendation you need. If we don't have the answer, we have the network to get the correct answer. We will be doing work in other states by email, phone and fax.

RoundUp Ready Soybeans
We can get Roundup Ready beans, Bt corn, High Oil Corn, Roundup Ready corn or any technology you want. We will advise you of the advantages and disadvantages before you make your purchase.

Liberty Link® Corn
We use LL® corn and RR soybeans often in our recommendations with clients. I personally think LL® corn is the best corn system available because of what you see tonight. You can use your conventional herbicide at low rates. If you don't need or don't want to post apply the corn, you don't have to spend the money. That is what we did here. Mike was satisfied with the weed control so we did not post this corn. It turns out prices are low and it takes more weed pressure to justify killing more of the weeds. I would have used 20 ounces of Liberty® post applied with drop nozzles, 20 gallons of water and 3 pounds of ammonium sulfate.

Bird Hybrids
Leon Bird is as good at corn genetics as anyone I have ever met. Seed lots, seed quality and seed treatment is as good as money can buy. You need to plant some and see if I am wrong. Many of you have used his genetics successfully. You are all receiving a Farm Science Review ticket and we invite you to meet with Leon, Urbana, AgrEvo and BioWorks at the Ohio State Farm Science Review

Matt and Mark deliver most of the seed and inoculant and will take your order today or anytime and adjust your order to your request before delivery. Matt was the state winner in cereal grains last year and a national finalist, Mark won the state FFA Emerging Agriculture Technology Award this year and will be interviewed in the final four at Kansas City on November 12. The company profits go toward their education and keeping our equipment up. We really appreciate your support and business.

Price
If the market will not support farmers then their suppliers should. HyMark and Bird will do what ever it takes for you to raise a good crop less expensively next year than what you spent this year. We understand what you have to do to survive in farming.

Competition
The competition in the plot a large, multi-national seed company. Look for yourself. Can a multi-national company sell you the best seed for your farm? Companies like Bird and HyMark only work in one area and do not try to do everything for everybody. We don't have to. We do what's best for you.
